Victory Sermon Series: Disappointed With God

Disappointed With God

the big idea:
Why Lord? There is so much that happens in our lives, so much that goes on around us, that causes us to wonder where God is and what he’s doing? We meet people who are angry with God, disappointed with God. As we listen to their stories, we can hardly blame them. Many of us have felt the same way at times. This worship series will take an honest look at some deep, heart wrenching questions we all have and allow God’s Word of truth to speak to our disappointments.

the breakdown:
Download SermonNovember 2nd (Reformation): Why Am I All Alone?

In times of trial or very great need we often feel that we are very much alone. At those times we are tempted to ask: God, where are you when I really need you? Why are you leaving me hanging here when I need you most? There was only one person in all of history, however, who could truly ask those questions. His name is Jesus. And both he and his Word are the ultimate proof that God would never leave us or forsake us.
Scriptures: Daniel 6:10-12,16-23; 1 Timothy 4:9-18; Matthew 10:16-23; Psalm 46
Sermon Text: Daniel 6:10-12,16-23

Download SermonNovember 9th (Last Judgment): Why Do the Wicked Prosper?
In the world we live in and in our own lives it can often seem like the bad team is winning and the good team is losing. This can cause even the most faithful followers of Christ to lose heart and grow disappointed with God. Is living a life to honor God even worth it if the wicked are the ones who seem to prosper? Jesus promises us that it is. God has set a day when this will all become clear. We look forward to that day because we know what Jesus has done for us. Until that day comes, we don’t lose heart. Instead we redirect our energy into using all that we have here on this earth to faithfully reach others with God’s love in Christ.
Scriptures: Malachi 3:14-18; 1 Thessalonians 3:7-13; Matthew 25:14-30; Psalm 90
Sermon Text: Matthew 25:14-30

Download SermonNovember 16th (Saints Triumphant): Why Did You Take My Loved One?

Is there any experience that is more difficult in life than the death of someone we love. Knowing that God is the one who gives and takes life, may cause us to question God’s love for us during these times of grief. Yet, the Bible is full of comforting truths that help us see death from a heavenly perspective.
Scriptures: Ezekiel 37:15-28; Revelation 19:1-9; Matthew 25:1-13; Psalm 84
Sermon Text: Revelation 19:1-9

Download SermonNovember 23rd (Christ the King): Why Don’t You Seem to Be in Control?

When bad things happen in the world, the question is right there: where was God when this happened? The scriptures teach us that God, that Jesus, is in ultimate control of all things. How do we reconcile this truth with all the pain and sorrow in the world around us?
Scriptures: Ezekiel 34:11-16,23,24; 1 Corinthians 15:20-28; Matthew 27:27-31; Psalm 47
Sermon Text: 1 Corinthians 15:20-28
