Why Victory of the Lamb?

Maybe its the casual atmosphere, the people, the pastor, the programs or the worship style that drew you in. Maybe you're curious, searching, shopping around, or are new to the area. Whatever the reason that brings you in our door, you will leave knowing the one reason "why" we exist. To proclaim the saving grace of Jesus to our community! We strive to reach out into our community and actively preach and teach the gospel message, the message of our eternal salvation. We will constantly strive to remain active in proclaiming this message in as many ways as we can. As much as you need to hear this message to build and strengthen your own faith, there are numerous opportunities for you to participate and be active in the church as we share the Word with our community.

Do I have to be a Lutheran to attend?

Really simply, no. Not at all. Everyone is welcome. We're here because first and foremost we're Christians. We want to share the victory of our Savior, Jesus Christ with everyone. As Lutheran Christians we simply believe that we are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus and that the Bible is our source book. No human traditions or customs are more important than God's words in the Bible.

How did you start?

In 2006, a number of members from neighboring St. Paul's, Muskego with the guidance of Pastor Peter Panitzke assessed the needs of the area and found that the southwest corner of Franklin was growing quickly yet had few local churches serving the rapidly growing area. St. Pauls took a bold initiative and decided to create and fund a daughter congregation from scratch. This church would be contemporary and its goal would be to stay focused on reaching the unchurched--particularly people who didn't grow up going to church or people who stopped going to church. It started with 6 members and called its first pastor, Pastor Ben, in May of 2006.

Pastor Ben had a unique situation when he arrived. He had only a small handful of members, no place to live and no place to worship. However, by December of 2006 we had secured the Polonia Soccer Club as our first church home and planned our first service for December 6th, 2006. We held our "Grand Launch" service on Palm Sunday, April 1st, 2007. From that time our church has steadily grown in faith, in members, and in involvement in the community. Because God has blessed our church with steady growth, we moved into Showtime Cinema movie theater in May, 2009. Our long term plans are to stay in the community, maybe one day build in Franklin. But for us, more important than buildings...are people. And so we think having church in a movie theater is a pretty great way to help meet people where they're at.

What is worship like?

We gather every Sunday at 9:30 am in theater #1 of the cinema. Our public worship service is designed for everybody. If you have a family, we encourage your children to be a part of our worship-even if they get a bit rowdy. Truly...we understand! But if you'd prefer you can register your kids ages 2-10 for Bible Quest, our safe, fun kid's program that takes place in theaters 6 and 7 during the worship service.

Our worship services are Bible-based, relevant to real life, and relaxed. Each week you will hear Christ-centered music led by our church worship band. We strive to glorify God by retaining ancient, historic forms of Christian worship along with new, contemporary ones because our goal is simple. We want to proclaim the whole counsel of God to people who desperately need to hear it without falling into some of the dangerous traps associated with being labeled either "traditional" or "contemporary". So in the same service you’ll hear some brand new songs and some old school hymns...but always with a variety of musical styles and instruments to keep things fresh. We’ll also use visuals, video, and anything else that helps us communicate the timeless truth of the Bible in timely ways that keeps worship focused on what God has done for us.

Each week you will also hear practical sermons from Pastor Ben based on a biblical text. He aims to apply the Word of God directly to your real world life using the Bible's twin messages of law and gospel. Above all his goal is to help you see how Jesus Christ has won the victory for you over sin, Satan, death, and hell.

For us the most important part about worship isn’t any man-made rule about how you’re supposed to dress or “do church.” The most important thing for us is to come to God trusting him for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life through Jesus Christ. It’s about the victory that Jesus won for us. And because of God's promise we firmly believe that God gives us these amazing gifts in worship through his Word and Sacraments which alone are means by which God creates, strengthens, and preserves our faith in Jesus Christ. That’s why worship is always an awesome experience!

We invite you to come explore faith with us. If you've rarely been in a church before, or if you've just found church boring, give us a try at Victory of the Lamb. We’re a place where you can come as you are, discover God, and find honest answers to the questions that you have. And when you come we hope and pray that you won’t just meet some friendly people, but you’ll also get to meet your Savior, Jesus Christ through his holy Word.

And...before and after worship every week everyone’s invited to hang around the Showtime Cinema lobby and grab some free coffee, juice, doughnuts, or bagels at the Victory café!

What do I wear?

On any Sunday at our church you'll see all sorts of different attire. Nobody's out to judge you by what you wear. Mostly people come dressed casually and truthfully, that's what we encourage because we think that helps meet people where they are. So please feel free to be comfortable when you come. When a person dresses out of love for God, the choice of dress – casual or more formal – is acceptable to God . . . and us.

What programs and activities can I participate in?

Every Sunday we have worship and Bible Quest for the kids as well as a Sunday morning Bible study. During the week we have various Bible classes, groups where people get together, and a women's group that meets at the Franklin library.

There are many different ways to participate at Victory. Every Sunday morning we need a large group of volunteers who help to setup our worship space, the lobby, the Victory Cafe, prepare the altar, setup equipment and other odds and ends. We have a dedicated worship team that practices every week. We have a multimedia team that delivers the service multimedia, DVD's for distribution, as well as music and Web site production.

We are always looking to help our community become a better place to live and work. We want to show the love of Jesus in practical ways too. We look to get involved in volunteer service projects to help the community. We also want to be actively involved in canvassing and other outreach projects to share the victory of Jesus with our community.
