Mattthew 25: "He Will Come Again to Judge..."

RSS
Every time we join in confessing our Christian faith with the words of the Apostles’ Creed, we speak, “He will come again to judge…”  In Matthew 24, Jesus describes the signs of the end of the age and his specific coming.  Matthew 25 pictures how Christ will come to judge.  Jesus gives us signs so that we may prepare for his return; he depicts his judgment so that we may be faithful in the perseverance of our faith in him.  Christ tells us to “watch” and “be ready” (25:10,13)!  Believing in our Savior must be coupled with faithful perseverance; coming to faith will do no good unless you stand firm in it as well (Mt 24:13).  Stand firm by serving your Lord with gladness with all of your “talents.”  Watch and ready yourself by doing “for one of the least of these brothers…” (25:40).  In other words, strengthen your Christian faith by living it out.  Study God’s Word (Ro 10:17).  Come together with fellow believers for worship (Hebrews 10:25).  Remain faithful in prayer to the Lord (Eph 6:18; Col 4:2; 1 Pet 4:7).  Stand firm in your faith against all the assaults of Satan and this sin-filled world, Jesus says, "Yes, I am coming soon" (Rev 22:20a).  Our prayer then is, "Amen. Come, Lord Jesus" (Rev 22:20b).

From my brief brush-up on the 2nd Article of the Apostles’ Creed: Semper paratus (“Always prepared”) is the motto of the U.S. Coast Guard. It is rightfully used as a motto for all Christians also-Jesus says!
